Lineage II launched in the West in late April 2004. Since then, the game has evolved extensively through many updates. Here you can read the details for each of the game updates since launch.
1 NA Closed Beta had 2 phases. First one had no public registrations, the testers were privately invited by NCSOFT (Lineage1 players and others), second phase had open registrations on the official website but NCSOFT only accepted the ones that met its criteria. Finally the Open Beta had open registrations and everyone that applied could get in.
2 Korean Closed Beta had 7 phases. First one had open registrations on the official website and 400 people were selected from an estimated 142,000 that applied. Second phase had no additional registrations (testers were selected from previous applications). Fifth phase had 15,000 people in total with registrations up on GameMeca, a Korean gaming webzine, with applicants accepted on a first-come first-served basis. Sixth phase recruited people from GameZone21 and PlayForum limited to 10,000 testers.
